Description
Returning shooting a number of images at a Ghost Town, I happened upon this old neglected sign. I'm sure in it's day it attracted a lot of weary, thirsty and hungry travelers but now it sits rusting in the Arizona desert.

Lived in AZ, love the old places still hanging on, but not necessarily open for business! Voted and favorited.

Thank you very much Susan! : ) I agree about the "old places" in AZ...I think because so much of Phoenix and surrounding area are all shiny and new because of the explosive growth. It's enjoyable to find the old "survivors"! Thanks again!

What a great find, Jephyr! I want every thing listed there. Bet you did too after a day of shooting! :) v/f
Jephyr Art replied:
Thank you Steve! So true! And back in the day when there might not have been another joint for miles...I bet it was a magnet for peeps like us!! : ) So glad you liked and fav'ed! Thanks again!!

I LOVE this one, Jephyr! It's just so retro and funky...out there in the desert amongst the cacti. It's cool also to see those cacti in the background. Isn't it cool how these old signs were hand painted...look at the Ice Cold Beer with the frozen ice on top of each letter. I really appreciate the sign painters of years gone by. Great capture! f/v

Thank you so much Joy! Its great to have another artist really look at an image of mine. It is fun to see the hand painting! I wonder if it was advertising a jumping joint in its day...attracting "desert rats" from all over for some suds, eats and a little dancin' to that live music. When it was 114 degrees I bet that ice cold beer sounded pretty good either way! If that sign could only talk. : ) Thanks again!
